Fun With Firearms

Some friends of mine sent me some funny videos today that I thought were good enough to warrant further promotion here on Kermitt. There are a bunch of different copies of this first video floating around on youtube, one of which has over 50,000 views. I hope this guy's new found internet stardom keeps him warm at night as he will no doubt be sleeping on the couch for the next 2 years.

On this second one I'm not sure which is more funny, an old lady in a wheelchair firing a machine gun or what she says after emptying a clip.

New Skills Aplenty

Nate has found all kinds of new abilities this week. He's becoming quite good at getting up on all fours and he's in the beginning stages of crawling. Right now he just kinda rocks back and forth and scoots his hind quarters along slowly. I imagine in 2 weeks we won't be able to let him out of our sight. He's also becoming a very accomplished wrestler...
Thank you mother for that timely shot. His most recent development is pretty funny, but I don't know that we should encourage it that much. Can you say spit factory?

We'll try to get some good footage of him scooting along for the next post.

Random Pictures

The boy is the picture of relaxation in his swing.
I took this one today when I came home from work. His mother doesn't know I took it, so she'll see it on here for the first time.
I posted this picture a week or 2 ago and thought it bore a striking resemblance to a picture of Aunt Shauna that I remembered. Here's both pics together, you be the judge.

It's Sweet Corn Season

With all the teething going on, Nathan has finally started using the John Deere vibrating corn cob teether that his Grandpa Mike bought him.

It took him a while, but he's finally got enough "chomp" to activate the pressure switch for the vibrator. It's pretty funny when he starts in on it because it sounds like there's a cell phone set on vibrate ringing in his mouth. At any rate, I thought I'd post a pic of Nate enjoying Grandpa's present.

Nathan's First Driving Lesson

We're going down to the DMV on Friday to take his written exam and get his learner's permit.

Houston, We Have a Tooth

Well, 2 teeth actually. Sunday night the boy was exceptionally cranky for no apparent reason so Liv felt around in his mouth and sure enough... 2 little toothies poking through. So, he's on a steady diet of children's tylenol and refrigerated teething rings now. The coming weeks should prove to be very interesting.

Liv took another cute video of the boy yesterday. Nathan was helping me to sort through all the junk mail that showed up.

Where Do I Start?

Wow, it's been almost 10 days since my last post and I don't know where to start. It's been a busy week. When I last posted, we were preparing to go up to Iowa to see Nate's Aunt Shauna and Uncle Tom. We were traveling up there with Grandma and Grandpa Dudley, so we stayed at their house Thursday night to get an early start Friday morning. Grandma took the opportunity to let the boy try out the jumper she bought him.

Friday morning we were out the door by 7, which was a huge accomplishment for the boy. We weren't sure how good of a traveler he would be, but we managed the 4 hour trip without having to stop for him. He was a little cranky during the last 30 minutes or so, but Grandma was entertaining enough for him to keep from screaming.

While at Shauna's we played a bunch of games, ate some good food, and helped them tear half of the deck off their house. We all had a good time and the boy was a constant source of entertainment. We were so busy having fun, that we didn't even get the camera out all weekend. I think Tom got a few pics with his phone, though. One afternoon we went to the local malt shop to eat. Grandpa gave the boy his first taste of french fries. Really Nate just sucked the salt off of them, but he enjoyed it all the same. Later I convinced Liv to let him try a taste of our chocolate malt. He LOVED it and demanded more. Later she said he wouldn't nurse because it wasn't chocolate.

We headed home Sunday and back to work Monday. Nate's 6 month pictures came in Wednesday, so I picked those up on my way home from work. They turned out pretty good.

We were really happy with them.

A couple days ago, the boy started to finally appreciate the game of peek-a-boo. I got a video of him cackling at his mother. The picture isn't very good, but his screechy laugh is priceless...

I got some pretty good stills of him too while this whole episode was going on.
Late last week we went to the pool and while there Olivia gave Nate a couple sips of root beer. He now recognizes the can and requests a sip whenever we have one.

We're Off to Iowa

Tomorrow we're headed off to see Nate's Aunt Shauna and Uncle Tom up in Iowa. We're going to help them remove part of their deck that used to surround the pool they got rid of. We should have plenty of time to hang out and play some games too. It should be a really good weekend. We've all been looking forward to it for a while now. Liv bought the boy some new shades yesterday so the sun won't bother him as much while we're driving...He actually does pretty good with them. I figured he would rip them off and start eating them within 5 seconds of us putting them on, but he's fairly content to leave them alone usually. He was so excited about going to see Aunt Shauna that he started eating his feet last night...
I know that's what I do when I get excited about something!
